Ghost Adventures – Hauntings of Vicksburg – Spirits Under Siege – Part 3
The Tour of Vicksburg continues with Zak and team at two new locations. The first is a former Elk Lodge, supposedly the home to severe negative energy and site of an unsolved murder. The second is the Kuhn Memorial Hospital, which treated smallpox patients and Civil War soldiers.
Malcolm Carson own the Lodge and tells how he makes repairs, but the next time he shows up, his work is undone. Additionally, tools go missing so he keeps buying new ones. Most would say this is the work of vandals or shoddy workmanship, but to Zak, it’s the work of paranormal spirit energy.
The first thing to note about the Lodge is that it’s completely falling apart. There isn’t a straight line to be seen or a board that isn’t rotten. However, when Zak steps inside and something falls amidst all the visible debris, he claims something was thrown at him.
He also picks up and EVP that says, “Let me get out.” How he discerns those words is beyond me.
When Zak goes to visit the Kuhn Hospital, he comments the building is the face of evil. He follows this up with conversations from two paranormal investigators. John says he had an ordeal that drove him away from the hospital and this is first time he’s been back in 4 years. He doesn’t explain that incident other than saying something was watching him.
David says he was investigating when the spirit of Michael said he was going to kill one of their investigators. Nothing actually happened to any of them, but that is their story. When Zak speaks of Michael they hear a bang. They make a frantic charge up the stairs only to stop after a few steps. Additionally, Zak says he sees someone moving down the hall.
However, the bang and figures are revealed when Zak finds two construction workers loading a dumpster.
The actual investigation is broken into two parts. Zak, Bill Chappell, and Billy will investigate the Lodge with Aaron and Jay over at the Kuhn Hospital.
Bill Chappell has come out to create an EMF vortex so he can capture it with a variety of devices. This experiment creates a lot of EMF energy that they can all feel and react to. Bill admits the effect of that high of EMF is disorienting.
And then the big evidence of the night happens, a board falls over. Zak and Billy make a huge deal that a 4×4 board of that size couldn’t possibly fall over on it’s own, it’s just too heavy. How is something too heavy not to fall?
But, it’s not too heavy for Bill, who picks it up with one hand without any strain. Zak continues to expound on how profound this evidence is and how it’s proof of poltergeist activity since there is no visible way to explain why the board fell.
Over at the hospital, Jay and Aaron send themselves into a fit as they discover someone is walking around the hospital with them. They clearly capture a figure. So clear in fact, it’s obvious it’s another person. And their big discovery for the night is a pile of Ziplock bags of poo.
Another piece of evidence they capture is something climbing on the wall. A wayward animal climbing a wall wouldn’t be a stretch for this location.
With the investigation over, all the focus is on the board falling over. Zak says the board is so heavy you need to two hands to pick it up. He’s completely wrong as we saw Bill pick it up with one hand. Zak is utterly convinced that a board falling over is the work of spirit energy and will not accept any other explanation.
Zak is free to believe whatever he wants, but this is another example of his paranormal hypochondria. He should also look up the subject of gravity.

Ghost Adventures – Hauntings of Vicksburg – Demons and Dolls – Part 2
The next stop of the Vicksburg tour brings together more dubious tales and stories. Zak talks with Karen, owner of a salon that’s been around long enough for the building to have been hit with cannon fire and with Mike, owner of antique doll toy store, where a doll sent from a concentration camp calls home.
We start things off with Karen and her husband Derrick, who live above their salon. It used to be a furniture store frequented by plantation owners. Karen then decides to weave in her own unfounded tales by saying, she has no idea what went on there. There could have been torture or even murder. Then again, there could have been nothing of the sort.
Derrick describes a nightmare where he couldn’t move and felt like he was being taken over by an entity, possibly trying to kill him. His son, while aloof and distant, says he is scared and some times feels something might be behind him. Karen is quick to latch onto the idea that these dark entities have given her son and attitude that stinks.
They meet up with another set of investigators who take them down to the basement where they heard a little girl’s voice. This is supposed to be an area where slaves were kept. It would be nice if they provided some proof.
Breaking away, they head over to meet Mike, owner the antique doll shop, where Zak clearly shows his phobia of dolls. But there is one in particular, a doll sent from a family during the Nazi occupation, that holds his interest.
The investigation is broken into two parts. Zak decides to head into the doll shop alone, with Billy and Aaron in the salon.
During the night, Zak claims he records the doll letting out a hiss. He also falls down in a total panic as a doll falls off the shelf. To Zak, this is clear evidence of the paranormal even though other dolls are precariously balancing on the shelves.
Zak further states he has scientific evidence of it being touched by an entity as he gets a “high” EMF reading of 1.0 around the doll. I don’t believe a 1.0 reading of anything should be considered significant. When he picks up the doll, the area is cold as ice, although there is no temperature reading. Then again if there was, it most likely would have read 66.6.
Billy and Aaron are in the basement of the salon where they get the words, Trap, Hi, Africa, Beat, and Climb, which they associate with slavery. Again, no evidence to suggest any of that to be true, but they will run with that idea.
At the end of the investigation, Zak decides to show Karen some footage that says could be disturbing. Zak says something stabbed him in the back and he felt complete and total terror. This causes him to stumble around, knocking things over, crashing into Billy, then cowering in the corner behind him. However, Zak states there was nothing demonic about it and Karen shouldn’t be afraid.
Karen gives him a look like he’s an idiot, and rightfully so.
So, another episode where the tales really aren’t worth a mention. Having a paralyzing nightmare is not evidence of the paranormal. Neither is a board falling over in a basement or a doll falling off a shelf.

Ghost Adventures – Hauntings of Vicksburg – McRaven Mansion – Part 1
This may or may not be the next episode in the series, but it’s a trip to Vicksburg to investigate one of America’s most haunted cities, which is a claim being made far too frequently these days. Zak and team were invited by the Mayor to see what sort of answers they could find in regards to the hauntings of the city.
They start off with the McRaven Mansion which has been standing since 1797. Dr Steven Reed owns the home after purchasing it from Leyland French, who was supposedly driven out by attacking forces. It’s claimed that Leyland performed “rituals” and opened doors to the unknown he couldn’t close. However, none of this can be confirmed, so it firmly goes into the “we were told” category.
Steven says he doesn’t live in the house because it’s haunted. That is the extent of his comment without any real explanation. Yet he’s concerned about the tour guides who claim to have experiences. Lisa claims something pushed her, while Kari says something touched her on the inner thigh and she was attacked in a nightmare. Jai says something happens every day such as someone whispering to her or the feeling of uneasiness.
Not to be rude, but those are some seriously weak claims. Having a nightmare is not a sign of paranormal activity.
The investigation gets underway with Kari and Jai participating to face down their fears. Zak brings out the PILFER device which emits positive ions to create a charged environment. Sounds like they creating an environment to have experiences where none exist.
And sure enough, the get a stick figure on the SLS while Kari says her left side is cold. Not to be outdone, Zak claims the entity they captured went straight through him and up the stairs. This contact left him feeling agitated with everyone. And because the energy is so high, the batteries to their equipment keep dying. Or they bought crap batteries, take your pick.
In the upper rooms where Andrew Glass died, Jai feels something grab her waist and claim to hear Jai Jai on the spirit box. This is combined with a lady screaming on the box and it leaves Jai feeling sick and disoriented. Walking around on uneven floors in the dark would cause the same effect. It all feels like a bunch of cosplay nonsense.
These ill feelings are followed by a light anomaly, or bug, and the sound of furniture moving around. They head to the room of John Bob to discover things aren’t the way they’re supposed to be. A lamp is on the floor, a table is in the wrong place and there are some cast off rocks on the floor. Of course, none of this was captured and only Jai is familiar with the layout of the room.
They bring out the Paranormal Pick 2 and get the word, “French”, which they naturally assume is the spirit of Leyland French. I bet they felt silly when they found out Leyland is still alive. This is marked up to trickery by the evil spirits.
To be honest, this was a pretty silly episode, with yet another story of “rituals”. For activity that happens every day, their evidence is weak-their batteries died and they spoke to someone who isn’t dead through a spirit box.

Ghost Adventures – Ogden Possession – S15E02
When the episode description reads as, “Zak and the crew travel to Ogden, Utah, to help a family plagued by a demonic figure that appears as a beautiful red-headed girl,” you know things are going to get a little usual.
At the start, Zak says a life is on the line and there are jitters about the house being next to a cemetery. What about the other houses?
Jen starts off by explaining that she and her husband David, started experiencing problems a year and a half ago, when they were in the “dark days.” There were some marital problem as she explains it. As Jen starts to give some minor details, David comes in and wants to bring the investigation to a close. He doesn’t want to talk about “her”.
Jessie, the daughter, appears and says to ignore the argument, it’s just the entity talking to David and she’s pissed. She says her mom has no right to get mad at David, which seems to reveal some animosity.
Right at this point it’s clear there are problems, but they have nothing to do with the supernatural or demons.
David finally sits down and talks with Zak about how he feels and what he experiences. He confirms he sees a teenage girl with red hair and she wants him commit suicide. Despite this, David isn’t sure he wants the entity to go away as it’s become a part of him. David believes the entity is from a girl that died out in the swamp and that she could be his soul mate.
Zak believes this is a demonic entity out to trick him under the guise of a young girl-as they are prone to do. However, Jessie claims she can see the entity for what it is, not the girl facade, but doesn’t explain further.
After David admits the entity gives him suicidal thoughts, Jen confirms that her younger daughter and her older daughter have also had thoughts of suicide with the oldest being hospitalized.
We then have the son, Junior, who claims he feels something angry watching him from the closet.
As Zak takes a break from the house, they overhear Jessie, saying “It” can’t be driven out and will be with them forever. Thus, Zak turns to Bishop Bryan Ouellette from the Order of Exorcists, who we last saw when Zak mistook demonic residue for plaster spackle. In short order, Bishop Bryan confirms there is something of a Satanic presence trying penetrate David’s mind.
To test this theory, Bryan blesses a cup of water. When opportunity presents itself, Zak gets David to drink the water, and as you could see from a mile away, David gags and chokes on it. As Bryan begins his blessing, David becomes angry and hostile. He tenses, contorts, struggles and mumbles.
Zak decides it’s a good time to bring out the spirit box. When he asks “What do you want David to do?” he gets the reply “Just hold on.” As they walk around, they get “Stop It” from the closet.
They then ask, “Who do you want?” – “Father Bryan”
“What do you want from David?” – “Will you marry me?”
As always, these are garbled and riddled with static. It’s just as likely the entity is ordering a pizza or asking for a Bologna sandwich.
But, they are interrupted by Mike, the audio engineer, who says Jen and David see figures on the roof. This prompts Zak to bring out the woefully unreliable SLS camera. But instead of looking at the roof, Zak heads to the bedroom. In the bathroom there is a stick figure crucifying itself in mockery. Or maybe a reflection as they’ve mistaken before.
All of this brings Bishop Bryan to do another blessing on David and on the house itself. With Zak’s help, he places four silver crucifix, one at each corner of the house. At this time, David struggles even more and now Jen is having back pain.
When they try to enter the barn, the door is broken and they have to force their way in, which is due to the entity trying to stop them rather than poor workmanship. Once inside, Bryan says he feels something, which looks like a bat or bird. That makes sense in a barn, rather than a paranormal orb.
In the house, David stumbles in the kitchen looking for a glass to break or a knife to grab. Pandemonium ensues as the power goes off. In the dark, something gets knocked over, which Zak says is a bottle that flew off the shelf.
Feeling they have the entity on the ropes, Bryan moves in to give David some holy water. This sends David into spiral, and stops him breathing. But, no need for an ambulance, just a few slaps to the face and everything is fine.
Bishop Bryan says they have broken the bond between David and the entity and as a final act, they head out to the cemetery to offer a blessing.
Rather than blaming supernatural or demonic forces, David should seek advice and guidance from medical and psychological professionals in regards to the guilt and shame he feels over the marital problems that manifested this “bogeyman”.
